World Cafe opens up shop to musically percolate and bring the juice with an upbeat selection of classic Latin music, from Mambo to Batacuda, featuring tracks by Tito Puente, Joe Cuba, Luisito Quintero, Sabu Martinez, Tito Rodriguez, Ray Baretto and Par Nev De Castro.
World Café welcomes all with a funky, upfront selection of Afrobeat music expressing a conscious message, featuring tracks by Fema Kuti, Fela Kuti, Ginger Baker, Oscar Sulley & The Uhuru Dance Band, The Ogyatanaa Show Band, Samba Mapangala & Orchestre Virunga, T-Fire, Troubleman, Laijadu Sisters and Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
Our first show slides on into Grooveland, to put some dips in your hips and glide in your stride. Playing party time 70’s Funk breaks that set the scene for future dance music genres and are still being sampled today, including James Brown, The J.B’s, S.O.U.L, and Maceo and The Macks.
It’s back to the Funk classics in session 2, playing an extra special extended selection of our favourite James Brown and J.B’s jams, the soul music that lives on to inspire dance music today.
The Knowledge sets speed and relights a late 90’s/2000’s selection of heavy Drum and Bass pressure, featuring top productions by Tropic, Universal Project, Peshay, Brockie & Ed Solo, Calibre, Xplorer & Deepulse, Mr Quest feat. Ragga Twins, DJ Hype and Ram Trilogy.
The Knowledge returns for session 2 with a short but sweet set of old school Jungle from the mid-nineties, keeping in the spirit of the legendary MC Stevie Hyper-D who once rhymed…”with the beats and the bass and the badness, we’ll lift the sadness!” Calling all Junglists!
It’s session 3 and time to get some Jungle in the field! Featuring tracks by Skool Of Hard Knocks, Freestyles, Firefox & 4-Tree, Droppin Science, Roni Size, Origin Unknown, Q-Project, M-Beat, Tribe Of Issachar and The Dream Team.
Session 4 reloads with a mix of timeless Tech Step DNB, featuring tracks by Klute, Break, Phace, Noisia, Kemal, Hyper On Experience, Concord Dawn, Stakka & Skynet, Technical Itch and Black Sun Empire.
Session 5, and in times like these we need some banging Acid Techno, featuring tracks by Ant, Alex S, KN, James Kinetic, Mr Burns, The Geezer, D.A.V.E. The Drummer, Chris Liberator, Paul Glazby, The Narcomaniacs and A&E Dept.
